Negative In, Positive Out

Many people believe to be a POSITIVE PERSON you need to just SMILE and say POSITIVE THINGS. Some people are naturally wired this way and see the best in everything and everyone, but for the majority of us we really have to work at it.

The 'self help' section at your local book shop is a testament to the fact that people really do want to be positive and have positive things come into their lives.

So, why do people find it hard to stay positive?

As a SELF IMAGE SPECIALIST I have assisted many people overcome their barriers. A gentleman I was working with reported to me that he had been to a 'Motivational' seminar and for a few days he felt great, felt inspired but then as the days went by the feeling of enthusiasm wore off.

I asked him what he thought might be the reason for this and after further discussion he said he had no idea. I asked him if he thought of himself as a positive person and with some gusto he reply "damn straight" (let's take that as meaning "Yes"). So I proceeded to do some muscle testing on him to see if what he was saying was congruent with what he was thinking of feeling.

He was very surprised to see the results didn't match, when we spoke further on this issue he brought up that while he was saying positive things, sometimes he would have negative thoughts such as:

I'm happy now till someone comes along and upsets me
I'm positive now, but when I get home I will have to pay the bills
I'll smile now, but I really have a headache
And the list went on and on

I think this is why positive thinking has earned a bad reputation because it often doesn't work if what you are saying and what you are feeling/thinking aren't the same. Many people sincerely try to have a positive attitude but they actually have negative feelings of fear, pessimism, unhappy, poor, irritability or angry and find that nothing changes in their lives.
